\n One Kind Word for Anti-Bullying Week <\/h3>\n

Students involved in the MVP initiative (Mentors in Violence Prevention) within The Robert Burns Academy Supported Learning Centre, took part in Anti-Bullying week (15 \u2013 19 November) by looking at this year\u2019s campaign theme \u2018One Kind Word\u2019, to help address bullying behaviours.<\/p>\n

S5\/6 pupils in the SLC took part in discussions and produced a Power Point to share the message about how kindness fuels kindness to the younger pupils in the SLC.<\/p>\n

During the anti-bullying week, pupils shared messages on paper hearts with the person who had treated them kindly. Pupils were encouraged to follow a different theme every day eg. Monday was being mannerly, saying please and thank you. All of the hearts were displayed on a bigger heart, which was visible to everyone in the SLC and the wider school community.<\/p>\n

Honey Savage, S5 said “I enjoyed it and it made me feel happy to receive a heart”.<\/p>\n

Another young person said “I was so happy to get a heart, it made my day!”<\/p>\n

Caitlyne Allison, S5 said she felt very happy and excited when she got a heart.<\/p>\n

Following this anti-bullying week initiative, one young person in S6 noticed that the behaviour improved in the SLC as a whole.<\/p>\n

It was so successful, that the pupils and staff have decided to continue with this positive initiative. After all, kindness fuels kindness. \uf004<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
