For the past couple of weeks the children have been learning about Worship in RME.\u00a0 They have looked at the meaning of the word worship and understand that it means to give great worth to something and show adoration and respect.\u00a0 They considered some of the things that they worship – not necessarily in a religious sense but more in the sense that they worship their family, a specific sports team, or in the case of some pupils in the class, Yorkshire tea!<\/p>\n

This week we looked at music and prayer as a form of worship.\u00a0 The children listened to different pieces of music from a range of religions and discussed how it made them feel and what they noticed about the music.\u00a0 Today we looked at the reasons people pray in different religions.\u00a0 We noticed themes of “Hope”, “Love” and “Thankfulness” and this helped us to have a go at writing our own prayers. They did not have to be religious and the children chose who they would write the prayers to.\u00a0 I was blown away with the maturity of all the pupils, who really engaged in the lesson and put a lot of thought and effort into coming up with their own versions of a prayer.<\/p>\n
