Week ending 09.05.25

Eventhough we’ve had a wee short week, we have still managed to pack in lots of hard work! The children have continued with their Fractions, Decimals and Percentages topic and are able to do equivalences between the three.

We were learning about embedded clauses in Grammar and we finished our letters to Mrs Anderson from the RBA so that she can learn all about us.

Here are some photos of us enjoying a game of rounders in the sunshine 🌞

Homework Week 2

This week’s homework is spelling with a focus on homophones. In P7 our spelling works on a four week rotation of strategies and activities. This week we would like all pupils to teach someone at home about homophones. We have included some examples on the sheet that was sent  home where you will also find an activity to do.

Baby Photos

I’m not quite sure how – but we are now into the last term of P7.  This is another busy term, so I thought we would get started with the bits and pieces that will be needed for the end of the session.

We are looking for a baby photo of every pupil in the class as well as a present day picture or selfie (they can choose this one!). Please email them to me at fiona.mccaig2@eastayrshire.org.uk

We can’t wait to see them all.

Homework

Today marks the start of our next four week homework block.  First up is our Big Talk.  The final presentation is all about ‘My Primary School Memories.’  All talks will be presented the week beginning 12th May. More information can be found in school bags. This week there is also spelling homework – all about prefixes. Pupils should teach an adult at home about prefixes using the homework sheet that was sent home.

Weekly round up 25.4.25

We have had great fun this week with our class game of ‘The Traitors’.  So far, Skye, Darryl B and Jacob have been eliminated by the traitors and Bella, Ayden and Daryl H have been suspected of being traitors and were banished at the round table. It turns out all three of them were actually faithfuls! We can’t wait to continue the game next week.

In writing this week, we planned out a letter to send to Mrs Anderson at the RBA,  to tell her all about us.

Happy Easter!

We had great fun decorating our eggs this week for the P7s’ last ever Easter Egg competition.  As usual, they came up some some amazingly creative ideas.

Well done to Jacob who won for his Black Cat 🐈‍⬛️

We made the most of the sunshine and took our PE session outside this week for an epic game of rounders.

We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break!

The Great Outdoors

We made the most of the super Spring weather this week with plenty of time outdoors. We enjoyed a class walk around the village taking in lots of our favourite places. We stopped to enjoy some mindfulness meditation and then collected some sticks/twigs to make Easter bunnies. See if you can spot them at Parents Night. We also experimented with the art of quilling to make beautiful Mother’s Day cards.

Weekly Round-up 21.3.25

On Thursday afternoon we went outside for PE. We took hockey sticks, tennis racquets, balls and skipping ropes and then came up with our own ideas for games.

We created beautiful spring paintings on Thursday and Friday afternoon too. First we painted the ombre effect background then we added a tree silhouette and on Friday we added in the cherry blossom detail. They look amazing so make sure you try to spot them on the walls when you come in for Parents Night.

** The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas **

In P7 this term we have been reading The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne.  We have also been learning about World War 2 to link with this. Now that we are finished the book we would like to watch the film so that we can do some comparison work.

The film is rated  a ‘12A’ due to some of the themes/content.  If you do not wish your child to watch it please contact the school by Monday 24th March 2025.
