A huge well done to our wonderful P7s who have worked tirelessly on our Virgin Money ‘Make £5 Grow’ enterprise project.

We were delighted to secure a loan of £5 per pupil at the end of term two and knew that term three was going to be a busy one. They hit the ground running in January when they formed their groups and got to work on their business ideas.

They have led every aspect of this enterprise project, from idea generation, budgeting and marketing to product/service development and how customer service; learning so many transferable skills along the way.

This week saw things wind to a close and on Wednesday the final count took place! Together the class made an outstanding £497.86 in sales with a profit of £397.86. Unbelievable!

This means the hoodies have now been paid in full and the remaining balance can be put towards their end of year activity.

A huge thank you to everyone for supporting our enterprising P7s and a special shout out to the parents/carers who were also supporting them at home as they navigated their businesses. It’s very much appreciated.

Our final two enterprise groups smashed their goals this week and sold out of their products by midweek!

Royal Doh sold over 70 batches of play dough and The Sweetie Kings had queues out the doors for their tuck shop. Check them out! Huge well done.

The Gro-Bros kicked off their slime workshops today with their first three sessions. Everyone had a ball, adding funky colours, sequins and glitter to their creations.

The remaining workshops for P2, 3, 4 and 6 will run next Monday and Tuesday. There’s still time to book – simply bring your £2 to school before Friday!

The Sweet Chicks have reopened their order book for their popular Easter chicks and continued to decorate their remaining stock today.

Our final two businesses launch on Monday – keep your eyes peeled for more information.

It’s been a busy week in the P7 business headquarters with three of our five businesses launched and trading. The Goo-Bros, The Busy Bakers and the Sweet Chicks have worked fantastically well to sell their products and services around the school. They have gained loads of transferrable skills such as budgeting, teamwork, negotiating and marketing. They have tackled any issues with confidence and are loving this new challenge. They want to thank everyone who has supported them this far. Stay tuned for our final two businesses after the February holiday.

Only one more sleep until we are off to Dolphin House for our P7 residential.  Here is a last minute check list of things that people often forget! Please make sure you’ve packed it all.

We had a fantastic time at our Christmas Party. No one needed any encouragement to hit the dance floor – it was packed from start to finish! We even had a boys vs girls dance off – the dance moves were off the chart! We also squeezed in some party games and Scottish Dances.

Christmas came early in P7 with the surprise arrival of the leavers’ hoodies! We absolutely love them.

The rest of our fundraising for our hoodies will be done in term 3 as part of our Virgin Money enterprise project.

Our hoodies can now be worn as uniform for the remainder of the school year.

Today we had a visit from Owl Magic. We learned all sorts of fascinating facts and got to hold Jazz and Bubbles.

It’s been another busy week in P7 as we get into full swing for the school show, Cinderella & Rockerfella. The stage is up, the props are almost finished and we are working hard on our singing and stage movement.

As well as our show we have been busy with our protractors, measuring angles, identifying them and calculating missing angles. We have also been been practising for Sports Hall athletics.

We had great fun creating our own gingerbread men after watching a clip from Shrek. We then animated our characters using software on our Chromebooks. We love the results. Check them out.

Our second homework focus launched yesterday and is Literacy. Over the next four weeks pupils will be issued with weekly homework as follows:

• Week 1 – Big Talk (issued and in school bags yesterday)
• Week 2 – Reading Challenge
• Week 3 – Handwriting
• Week 4 – Writing

All class talks will be heard on Monday 25th November.  This term’s talk is ‘Me, Myself and I’.  More information in school bags.
