Week Ending 31.01.25

The Primary 7s have been working hard on their hockey skills this week.  We have been learning to stop, pass and dribble the ball.

For writing this week, we looked at the poem Lament for a Lost Dinner Ticket by Margaret Hamilton and we then tried to recreate our own versions of the poem using Scots words.  Here is Ayden’s fabulous recreation:  Lament for a Lost Sister.

Week Ending 17.01.25

Primary 7 have all been given their Scots poem, ‘Willie Wastle’ by Robert Burns,  this week and have until Wednesday 22nd to learn it for the judging.  We have spent some time looking over the poem this week and we used our writing session this morning to imagine we were Willie Wastle and we were so angry, we wrote a letter to Robert Burns to complain about all the horrible things he was saying about our wife!  The results were hilarious.

We also studied the words of the poem carefully to draw our own illustrations of Willie Wastle’s wife based on the descriptions.

We chose Bette’s illustration and letter for the good work wall this week as they were simply fabulous!
