Christmas Surprise

Christmas came early in P7 with the surprise arrival of the leavers’ hoodies! We absolutely love them.

The rest of our fundraising for our hoodies will be done in term 3 as part of our Virgin Money enterprise project.

Our hoodies can now be worn as uniform for the remainder of the school year.

Weekly Round Off

After a very busy week performing our school show, we decided to  have a Friday fun day. We made our own play dough, made Christmas cards and hama beads. We also decorated our door to make it nice and Christmassy!

We really enjoyed our Christmas lunch and the chocolate cake was AMAZING!!!!!

Writing Homework

For the final week of our literacy homework focus month, we are asking P7 to do a piece of writing of their choosing.  They can write a story, a poem or even something we have been focusing on in class, like a report or a recount.  They will be issued with some A4 lined paper on Monday morning and we would love to see their finished pieces by next Monday (9th December).

Well done to those who completed their handwriting homework.  We’re very impressed by the high standards of the ones handed in!

Weekly Round-up

It’s been another busy week in P7 as we get into full swing for the school show, Cinderella & Rockerfella. The stage is up, the props are almost finished and we are working hard on our singing and stage movement.

As well as our show we have been busy with our protractors, measuring angles, identifying them and calculating missing angles. We have also been been practising for Sports Hall athletics.

We had great fun creating our own gingerbread men after watching a clip from Shrek. We then animated our characters using software on our Chromebooks. We love the results. Check them out.

Week Ending 22.11.24

Once again the Primary 7s have shown themselves to be excellent role models in our school.  Caleb D, Curtis, Lucy and Olly all volunteered to go down to Primary One to help gift their Book Bug Bags as part of Book Week Scotland.  They took turns describing each book and then Caleb read one of the books to the class.  The Primary Ones absolutely loved their story session and Mrs Ferguson commented on how responsible and mature they all were.  We are so proud of how they are promoting reading in our school.

On Thursday afternoon we had a Rugby session with Blair from Cumnock Rugby club.

The children have all been working so well on the show.  They have been learning their lines as well as the words to the songs.  They have also been busy with behind the scenes activities such as set and prop designing and preparing costumes.

Week Ending 14.11.24

On Tuesday we had our literacy morning.  Some of the P7s volunteered to help in the P2 and P3 classes. They were receiving their Read, Write and Count bags, and as part of the Reading Leadership Group, the P7s created some activities for them to do relating to the books. Both Mrs Campbell and Mrs Withers were so impressed with them  and wish they could get them to plan their lessons every week!

On Thursday afternoon we  attended a fantastic anti bullying show and workshop in the hall.  It was about a successful singer called Hope, who returns to her hometown for a concert and meets someone who bullied her badly in school.  We flashback to see the awful events happening, and in the process, we learn about the background of the bully and understand what motivates some people to act the way they do.

On Friday, we had our annual lantern making session in the hall for the upcoming ‘Make  Catrine Sparkle’ event.

Homework Focus

Our second homework focus launched yesterday and is Literacy. Over the next four weeks pupils will be issued with weekly homework as follows:
