Well we often say it has been a busy week, but this one has been jam packed! It was lovely to meet all of the parents this week. I’ve enjoyed putting faces to the people the pupils talk about so often.
This week we have had 3 visitors in class. On Monday Rory’s Mum. Tara came in to begin a 4 week British Sign Language course. We learned to sign the alphabet, ask someone their name and reply. We have been practising all week and can’t wait to show Tara our progress. Well done to all our learners for their effort and progress!
We also had Laura (Mrs Brown’s sister in-law) and niece Ellie in as part of our parenting topic. Pupils interviewed Laura on what it is like to be a parent but also what her job as a children’s nurse involves. They did wonderfully and Ellie settled in so well that she didn’t want to leave!
In health and wellbeing we had a go at discussing our mental wellbeing using blob trees. Learners worked in pairs to identify a ‘blob’ on the tree which represented how they felt. For a Monday morning there were lots of tired ‘blobs’!
It was Charley and Dylan’s turn to lead the lesson as they used their privilege cards. They chose to play some mental maths games which we all enjoyed!
In P.E we are currently learning about athletics. P6/7 were set a challenge to come up with a new athletics sport for the Olympics. We had Wheelbarrow races whilst balancing things on our heads, hurdle/long jump/javelin and dribbling/long jump/hurdles!
In literacy we continued our study of ‘Matilda’ and will begin writing a critical essay on it next week. We have also continued working on angles in maths and are beginning to get used to using protractors!
Achievements this week:
Group of the week – Megan, Theo, Josh and Kate
Star of the week – Kate for excellent effort in literacy
HotChocFri attendee – Maia who took Kodi
