We did it! We made it to the Easter holiday but not without working hard first.
Our final week has been jam packed with fun activities, real world problems and seeing the final product of our hard work.
We finished reading Coraline in class and completed a ‘soft introduction’ to critical essay writing. We will focus on this area in term 4 with a view to thinking critically about what we read.
In maths we did some ‘adulting’ and it’s fair to say it was stressful! Cries were heard of ‘I don’t want to grow up!’ and ‘I feel sorry for my parents!’ as we learned to budget bills, fun times and unexpected expenses for hobbies. Learners worked very well and managed to budget their ‘wages’ to afford rent, a car, food, utilities and some spare for holidays or hobbies.
As you can see, Kodi and Ruby were NOT impressed!
A huge portion of our week was dedicated to digital learning within literacy. Having written our own scripts, we spent time recruiting a cast and directing our films. We then edited the raw footage so that the end product was a short film fit for the big screen! The ultimate moment was when we gathered as a class to ‘premiere’ our films, with cinema snacks of course!
I am so proud of everyone, the films were brilliant, creative and so well organised. I was so impressed that we sent a few to assembly to be shown.
Achievements this week:
Group of the week – all of us for our hard work!
Superstar awards – Megan and Dylan.
Star of the week – Theo for being resilient.
All that’s left to say is have a fantastic break! I can’t wait to see everyone back in school, refreshed after the holiday. I look forward to meeting parents in term 4, my door is always open 🙂
