Weekly Update

What a busy first week back we have had.

On Wednesday we took part in an engineering worship online. We discussed how bridges were made and then were tasked to build a bridge using only paper, sellotape and paperclips. We were given a budget of £100 and the bridge had to be 40cm long. Here are some of our successful bridges.

On Friday, Mykayla and her dad brought in her pet snake Macy to show the class. They answered lots of questions we had about snakes and Mykayla’s dad was very impressed to hear what we all knew already. Macy curled up inside Mrs Connell’s planning folder and Mrs Mackay braved her fears and held Macy.

Weekly Update

This week we were very lucky and took part in BEAR Cubs Engineer workshop. We joined with other schools on Teams and discussed different types of engineers. Then we completed a Spidergraph of our skills, rating them out of ten.

On Tuesday, we were learning about the different states of water. Outside, we organised ourselves into groups and showed how the particles move in solids, liquids and gases.

Today, we learned about the water cycle. Using words like evaporation, condensation, precipitation and accumulation, we created a ‘water cycle in a bag.’ They have been stuck to the window, ready to observe the water cycle. We also created a ‘cloud in a jar’ where we used shaving foam and coloured water to show how precipitation happens.
