We kicked started our 500 miles challenge today as the whole school and some of our families joined us on the Four Farms Walk! We walked a whopping 4 miles each. With 33 people take part, we’ve already walked 132 miles!
What a fabulous start to our fundraising. Thank you to our young people and families who joined us.

Cash for Kids
We had two very special visitors today from Cash for Kids and West FM. They answered lots of our questions and were interested in how we are fundraising. We are even going to get a special mention on West FM tomorrow at 8:30am… keep your ears peeled.
World Book Day 📕
Today we celebrated World Book Day and dressed as book characters or in our pyjamas.
Primary 6/7 arranged fun activities for the whole school to participate in. We completed word searches, bookmarks, first sentence quiz and listened to audio books.
RRSA Displays
Today, our Rights Respecting Committee added a right to the displays in school. They already surveyed the school and decided which displays related to which right.
Reading for Enjoyment featuring Quality Street
Today, at the start of our literacy lesson, we were asked to choose our favourite Quality Street and the reason why we picked it. Some of us chose the chocolate based on having tried them before, the flavour or even the wrapper.
Mrs Connell then asked us to choose a book from a selection and give a reason why. Some of us chose a book based on the cover, blurb, author or genre.
We pick books the same way we pick our favourite sweet treats.
Peer assessment
On Thursday, we shared our writing across the whole school. We wrote instructions on how to make the most disgusting sandwich. We certainly put Mrs Connell off her lunch. We peer assessed in pairs, then groups, using the success criteria and sentence starters to leave feedback.
On Wednesday, we braved the February chill and warmed up by planting trees in the community. We dug holes, planted the trees, surrounded them with leaves and gave them a good water. Watch out for our fruit trees next time you are passing through Sorn.
We had a visit from Generation Science where we learned about electricity. We made a circuit, powered by a battery and saw how electrons travel round a circuit.
Then we made a magnetic field which pushed the electrons around the circuit. 
Then it was our turn to test out different coils and magnets. We measured how much electricity we generated using an ammeter.
We used our knowledge to charge up our Hexbugs for the race of the century.
Spelling
It was consolidation week this week… we used magnetic letters to spelling our words with the ng, ph and wh.
Circulatory System
Today we were learning about the circulatory system and the function of the heart. We made our own pumping heart to investigate the flow of blood.
