Kidtastic Time

Our P6/7’s have had a brilliant opportunity leading Kidtastic Time. They have blown our socks off with how well they have organised activities for the younger pupils. They have enjoyed coding, art activities, obstacle courses and bug hunting. After learning about wax resist in Expressive Arts, Heidi and Louise decided to teach the other class how to do wax resist art.

Fairtrade 🍌

This week, we learned about what Fairtrade is. We talked about the pros and cons of using Fairtrade products and located which countries certain products came from.

Mrs Connell set a challenge where two groups had to build the tallest free standing tower but with different resources. The classic line ‘that’s not fair’ was repeated often which led into a discussion about what fair means

Weekly Update 🪑

The talk of our class this week is that our chairs have went on strike.

Our chairs were fed up of crumbs, swinging and trumping they refused to work. In their letter, they wanted an apology.

The class were tasked with writing a persuasive letter in return to win their chairs back. Most decided that they did not need their chairs and their letter stated they were finding other ways to work.

So far only two pupils have persuaded their chairs to come back. Next week, they will have the opportunity to win them back. Stay tuned for any updates…

Weekly Update

This week we played Mrs Connell’s Big Writing Game. This game is known for its magical powers of helping the class produce fantastic writing. We wrote descriptions about the setting using similes and then used our gameplay to write a beginning, problem and ending.

We’ve been continuing our work on fractions.

We explored percentages and used the Diene’s materials to create an image of a percentage. Some of use also found a percentage of a number, converting a percentage to a fraction.
