STEAM challenge
Primary 7 set our class a house challenge, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Each house had to work collaboratively to design and build a rose or bunch of roses using the materials we had in class. Lots of ideas were trialled before a final design was made. Everyone gave themselves a role and worked extremely well to complete the challenge. Here are the finished 3D roses. Great teamwork!
Blue House – single rose
Red House – pot full of roses
Yellow House – A bouquet
Green House – Used a tower of paper cup lids to create a tub to hold their roses.
Well done everyone!
Numeracy
Primary 5 have been very busy with their new work on fractions. We know how to calculate a fraction of a number and also create equivalent fractions. Our number talks have been to half and double this fortnight.
Literacy
We have started our new novel ‘ The Butterfly Lion ‘ by Michael Morpurgo. This week we used Prior knowledge, prediction, visualisation and metalinguistics to study the text. We have also decided we wanted to find out more about white Lions and Africa. This will be our interdisciplinary topic until Easter.

Burns Competition
We had a very difficult decision to make as everyone in P5 who learned their poem was excellent. Miss Wheelan had the tricky task of judging the finalists.
Winner – Andrew Oor Wullie
2nd – Layla A dug a dug!
3rd – Ellis Oor Wullie
P5 thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone perform, you were all entertaining and confident.
Thank you for working so hard , enjoy your holiday.
