Robert Burns and everything Scottish.

Primary 5 have been busy presenting their findings on Robert Burns’ life. We have learned so much information from –

Following a professional timeline designed and presented by Andrew.

Listening to a fact sheet created by Millie.

Reading a presentation and a lift the flap poster by Rebecca.

Ellis’ cleverly structured Acrostic poem that covered all of the main facts in Robert Burns life.

Primary 5 pupils have also shown excellent research and technical skills to design and deliver Power Point presentations. Well done to everyone who has had the confidence to stand up and talk to the class so far. We cant wait to hear the rest of the class deliver their research.

We have also been practicing our Scottish poems.

Oor Wullie and A Dug A Dug

Everyone will be heard on Tuesday 1st February.

Good Luck!

On the 25th January we had a Scottish day in celebration of Robert Burns Birthday.

We were delighted to hear Jock perform 3 songs on his chanter. Well done!

Happy New Year

Welcome back everyone.

Primary 5 have started a Scottish theme for this month that will cover poetry, stories , songs and also look at traditions.

We are researching about Robert Burns for homework. This will be presented on 25th January. I look forward to learning more about Robert Burns from P5’s wonderful research and skilful presentations.

Our first song naturally was Auld Lang Syne as we discussed traditions at New Year in Scotland and around the world 🌎.  This week we enjoyed learning The Skyscraper Wean ( Jeely piece song 🎵) a definite favourite with the class.

We have studied Scottish traditional clothing  – a Kilt, sporran and tartan. Everyone was able to design their own tartan on the computer and also create a paper kilt. These are unique.

If you want to design one yourself look up the House of Tartan website and have a go.

Some of our designs –

In numeracy we have started to look at division and can use a variety of ways to solve a problem.

Our Number Talks focus for this fortnight is to use the partial quotient strategy.

As you can see P5 are getting more confident with it.

What a great start to the year.

Well done !
