Callum’s Santa and Elf decoration
Primary 5 designed, planned and made their own decorations for our real Christmas tree . Lots of problem solving and experimenting with different materials. Our tree looks stunning with these unique and personal designs. Well done everyone.
Numeracy
Over the past two weeks we have looked at different strategies for subtraction. Our Number Talks have shown that P5 can confidently use many different ways to find a solution. I’m very proud of everyone.
Multiplication
We have been also looking at improving our knowledge of multiplication through active games as well as calculations. Some pupils have learned how to use the grid method of multiplication with great accuracy.
Keep up the good work of learning those multiplication facts, use Sumdog and Topmarks for extra practice.
Mary Queen of Scots
Everyone has carried out excellent research on this time in Scottish history. We learned about the tragic death of Mary’s father King James V . Her life in France
and her first husband Francis. The triple tragedy of the death of Henri II, Francis and her mother Mary of Guise.
How Mary would have travelled.
Primary 5 created their own fashion brand for Mary – House of Stuart! Very elegant.
They designed a brand logo to accompany their clothing range. Very original.
Our display has a wealth of facts and information including a timeline, details of battles, beautiful portraits, news reports , the fashion house of Stuart plus transport.
Jayden even found out Mary Queen of Scots loved marmalade .
newspaper reports
Primary 5 have also improved their French . Introducing themselves clearly, giving greetings and also learning the vocabulary for food and drink.
Next week Primary 5 will be finding out about the next part of Mary Queen of Scot’s life. They will be researching a murder plot and also judging the evidence used to convict her of TREASON. Should she have been beheaded ?
What do you think ?
In literacy they will be looking at scripts and acting in character.
P5 will continue to read The Selkie Girl focusing on clear understanding. Everyone was able to apply their reading skills of prior knowledge, metacognition, visualisation and questioning over the past two weeks.
