Children in Need Week in P4

Primary 4 looked at Mental Health this week.
We followed the advice of Five to thrive.
We learned to –
Connect – spend time with others  have fun, share                                                thoughts and feelings
Be Alert – live in the moment and enjoy
Be Active – enjoy sport and any activity
Be Curious – challenge yourself to learn and try                                                         something new
Give – donate your time or money to others

We all felt good when we were filled with the excitement of giving a surprise gift to someone in the school. We realised its a lovely feeling to make someone else feel appreciated.

On Friday Primary 4 were fully prepared for Children in Need day.

We were dressed up and had made our own outfits and accessories.

The best dressed pupil judged by the P7 pupils was H.C. Well done!

Spudsey Competition

We had many different spuds that had humour, style and great design. Well done P4 for a fabulous effort.

Z.T. was the overall winner in the school with her Blush and Pudsey double sided potato. She was soooo … excited when her name was announced.

Star Pupils in P4 this week

E. S. earned one for her kindness when she went out of her way to include another pupil in a friendship task.

A. McL. was very creative when he created a challenge for staff to choose which character they were best suited to from Harry Potter.  This was a very interesting staff chat to decide. Having met the challenge and all names matched his mum kindly donated £20 to children in need. Generous and creative idea – proud of you.

Pudsey Drive

We had many Children in Need activities on Friday but the highlight had to be the Pudsey Drive everyone was so competitive and really enjoyed the challenge. Great Fun !

Well done everyone for working so hard this week.

Poppies of Remembrance

I

This week we have all been busy learning about why the poppy is used as the symbol of remembrance for fallen soldiers and veterans. Primary 4 became very skilled when making these lovely poppies for their class wreath and individual cross.

Mr Taylor also started his placement with us this week. He will be in the class over the next five weeks and will be gradually teaching more lessons. He is delighted to meet such an enthusiastic class and said he thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone.

In maths everyone learned how to round to the nearest 10 some were using two digit numbers, others three digit numbers and for the biggest challenge four digit numbers.  I was delighted to see everyone try to reach the highest challenge on the Rounding Rockets game. Well done P4.

We started our new P.E. lessons in Rugby 🏉 today and managed to throw and catch the ball skilfully. Please bring warmer clothing for this outdoor training like leggings and a hoodie and wear trainers on a Wednesday and Friday. Thank you.

Finally have a lovely weekend everyone 🌺.

Pyramid 3D Shape Investigation

  1. Primary 4 studied properties of a square based pyramid and a triangular based pyramid.
The Papyrus group worked as a team to build a Lego pyramid. Great cooperation.
  2. E.S. Built her pyramid from unit cubes. It was ten cubes high and perfectly formed. Her group had the smart idea to use tens to speed up the building process. Clever thinking 💡.
  3. Everyone in the class used a net to form their own paper pyramid. Inside was a mummified pharaoh. Each pyramid had hieroglyphs and images on the outside.

Halloween in P4

Everyone arrived in costume on Friday. What a fascinating bunch of characters. Some were spooky, others sporty or down right scary. There were also some delicate and beautiful creations.

I was happy to be among my fellow Egyptians and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

P 4 learned a new game Wink Murder which had some dramatic deaths.  Aargh!

We developed our teamwork skills to design then create our own Halloween windows.

In our classroom we created five windows –

  • a spiders web with many dangerous looking spiders
  • ghosts
  • tombstones
  • skeleton
  • a haunted house with pumpkins

Please look up to see our wonderful designs.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and enjoy a spooky movie and some treats with your family.
