Pilot Training ✈️

This week we have been extending our knowledge of telling the time.
We can now use 24 hr clock times.

As part of our pilot training we were able to say when a plane departed 🛫and 🛬arrived. We could work out how long a flight lasted. Some pupils even planned out several flights in a day, creating their own pilot schedule ( breaks included).

Today was our final test as we watched the live movement of planes and helicopters around Scotland using the website flightradar24.

Please look it up at home to see where people are flying tonight.🛩

We discussed if a plane took off on time or was delayed. Our clever pilots calculated how many minutes late each plane was. We also read where they were going.

The flight on the screen was from Islay and departed at 09:15 and was due to arrive in Glasgow at 09:55. Is it on time ?

As we could track planes from all over the world it was also fascinating seeing the flight paths. The flags of the countries 🇳🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇩🇪🇫🇷🇨🇦were also interesting.
A new job role talked about today was an Air Traffic Controller.

Well done boys and girls. 👨🏼‍✈️👩🏾‍✈️

Pennycross Ponies

Primary 4 have been reading about the welfare of three ponies in our book Pennycross Ponies.
We have also learned how to write an instructional leaflet on How to take care of a specific animal.  The wide range of pets was fascinating, we had the expected cats and dogs but also a degu, tarantula, tortoise and even a dairy cow. Everyone was able to write clear commands using their expert knowledge of their animal.

There was a bit of role play with my stable and horses from R.S. , Z.T., A.McL, H.S. and H.N.
We have had a wonderful week.

Exploring Egypt

Primary 4 have had a busy week finding out facts about the Ancient Egyptians. We researched Pharaohs and designed our own  fabulous headdresses.  We also read many non- fiction books and found out how to use an index and a table of contents properly. We took notes and presented our facts to the class.

In addition to this we were able to read hieroglyphics and decodemessages. Look at our fabulous designs.

Z.B. is creating 3D golden tabs to make her design unique.

Great concentration to get the details right.

H.S. and Z.T.  searching for lost Egyptian words.

Fabulous work P4.

Well done.

Introducing Miss Stienlet

Behind the Mask.

I issued a letter recently to give Primary 4 pupils a little bit of information about me. I hoped this would help everyone feel comfortable coming back to school.

I have attached the letter below if anyone would like to read it again.

Welcome letter

Every pupil also wrote a letter back to me which was wonderful as I could quickly learn about their interests and personalities. They also completed the Behind the Mask task like my sample one below. These are now on display outside of the classroom.

We all enjoyed doing this creative task.
