This week we have been extending our knowledge of telling the time.
We can now use 24 hr clock times.
As part of our pilot training we were able to say when a plane departed
and
arrived. We could work out how long a flight lasted. Some pupils even planned out several flights in a day, creating their own pilot schedule ( breaks included).
Today was our final test as we watched the live movement of planes and helicopters around Scotland using the website flightradar24.
Please look it up at home to see where people are flying tonight.
We discussed if a plane took off on time or was delayed. Our clever pilots calculated how many minutes late each plane was. We also read where they were going.
The flight on the screen was from Islay and departed at 09:15 and was due to arrive in Glasgow at 09:55. Is it on time ?
As we could track planes from all over the world it was also fascinating seeing the flight paths. The flags of the countrieswere also interesting.
A new job role talked about today was an Air Traffic Controller.Well done boys and girls.
