Primary 4 created colour wash, wax resist backgrounds in the style of Van Gogh before using watercolours to paint their hilarious snowmen losing their hats in the wind. I just love the facial expressions. Well done everyone!

Numeracy- Subtraction and Exchanging
The children in Primary 4 have been learning about subtraction within hundreds, tens and units and have been learning how to exchange. Using the resources in the classroom they were able to work in small groups to help them visualise how the exchanging process worked. The children enjoyed using the resources and used them when working through their textbook examples.

Electricity – Circuit Building
This week the children have been learning about electrical circuits and the different components you might find in a circuit. The children were able to create their own circuits using a bulb, battery, switch and wires. Using their prior knowledge about electricity so far they were able to identify how they can keep safe whilst building their own circuits and had lots of fun doing this with their peers in the classroom!

Firework Art Lesson
The children in Primary 4 created their own firework and bonfire designs using different coloured chalk on a piece of black sugar paper. The children learned what techniques they should use with the chalk to create their fireworks and they were able to make them look realistic. The children really enjoyed this lesson and were able to share their own firework stories and could discuss the important safety aspects when being around fireworks. Well done Primary 4!

SSPCA Workshop
This week the children had a professional from the SSPCA called Chris, who came into our classroom to talk about the work he does to prevent the cruelty of animals and spread awareness to the young people across Scotland. The children really enjoyed the workshop and Chris had a sorting challenge for them to do which involved sorting things that are good for an animal to those that are bad for them. All the children enjoyed meeting Chris and if they see an animal in distress in their local communities they will know what to do thanks to the wonderful work of the SSPCA!
