Week beginning 14.03.22

This week is a consolidation week for our phonics.  Our common words are ‘with’, ‘us’ and ‘so’.

While we look at measure, weight and volume in math I will revisit addition and then subtraction in homework.

This week we are having a push with our sentence writing.  We are focussing on using a capital letter, full stop and finger spaces.  Any additional sentence writing at home would be really beneficial.

With this week being Snapshot week there wont be many posts on the learning journals to keep their hard work this week a big surprise.

Week beginning 31.01.22

Numeracy homework has been set for the class on Sumdog.

This week our sounds are ‘y‘ and ‘z‘.  Our common words are ‘your’, ‘by’ and ‘only’.

During our consolidation week I spent time with the class on an individual basis identifying any sounds that they were unable to recognise or unable to form when hearing orally.  This was helpful given that there have been periods of isolation for children.  I have also created individual word walls for children with the common words we have been learning.

Within the homework folder you will find your child’s word wall.  The words highlighted are the ones they can read confidently.  Your child may also have letter formation sheets attached.  These are identified as sounds they could, at present, either not recognise or form.  These are not formal homework tasks, they are an optional extra.

Week beginning 27.09.21

The children will bring home a folder today, please read the letter which is on the inside of their little red jotter.

This weeks sounds are ‘s‘ and ‘i‘.  Our common words are ‘I‘, ‘in‘ and ‘it‘.

It also includes last weeks sounds, ‘a’ and ‘t’  and the common words  ‘a’, ‘at’ and ‘the’.

This week they have a maths sheet to support their learning of the number ‘7’.

I have included a subitising game and flashcards with all the common words we will teach this year.

There is also a username and passwords for the Sumdog website to practise numeracy skills through games. Please do not answer the diagnostic questions for your child as this sets the games at a level for them and changes as their ability progresses.

Homework will be given out on a Monday to be returned on a Friday. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
