{"id":194,"date":"2025-09-09T15:00:32","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/primary12withmrskane\/?p=194"},"modified":"2025-09-08T14:24:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T13:24:23","slug":"p1-literacy-home-practice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/primary12withmrskane\/2025\/09\/09\/p1-literacy-home-practice\/","title":{"rendered":"P1 Literacy Home Practice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we are learning the sounds &lt;p&gt; and &lt;i&gt; in our Literacy lessons.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to reading with your child every day, you could do some of the following activities if you wish:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366\">Think of things that begin with the letters p and i and draw them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Rainbow write the letters p and i &#8211; pick a handful of different pens, pencils or crayons. Write the letters with a pencil first and then ask your child to trace them with different colours, multiple times.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366\">If your child comes along with you to do the food shop, challenge them to find as many different fruit and vegetables as they can that start with the letter p.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Play letter detective by searching all of the &lt;i&gt; and &lt;p&gt; in a book or a magazine.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366\">Practise all of our letters so far (s, a, t, p, i) by drawing a letter on each others backs with your finger and guessing which letter it is.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Sing along to our phonics songs: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3CZcqnzCAfg\">for the letter p<\/a> and for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3CZcqnzCAfg\">letter i<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your child has also received a new literacy game to practise the new sounds.
