Update 24/3/22 P1/2

Welcome to our latest update.

Another busy and fun 2 weeks has past.

Last Friday we marked Red Nose Day, by dressing in red and we took advantage of the good weather and had our own Red Nose Day Nose and Spoon Race. The class worked well together developing their teamwork skills, supporting and encouraging each other and taking turns. Great fun was had.

We took our number work outside too this week, drawing clocks and using objects found to make the hands and then challenging each other to make and read the time.

IDL: Toys

We have explored placing toys in a timeline working together in partners, looking at sequencing the years and learning about when some toys were invented.  We have explored forces and how much force needs to be used to move objects and investigated objects that sink and float. We have explored the forces of magnets.

I hope you are enjoying the Toy challenge and I look forward to seeing them and hearing all about them next Thursday 31st March.

Have a great weekend.

P1/2 Update 11/3/22

Good afternoon, and welcome to our latest update.

We have had another very busy fortnight, with lots of fun and learning happening.  See a selelection of photos below as to what we have been up to.

In  literacy we have been learning to write instructions and working on our sounds and using the find it strategy to answer questions about the text read. We have also had a go at writing our own books as well. Designing a cover, illustrating it and most importantly writing the story.

We had a fabulous day for World Book Day and a huge thank you to you all for the fabulous costumes.  We took part in an authors live broadcast, listening to a story read by the author ( TomPercival – The River).  We have learned about the differences between fiction and non- fiction books and been able to sort books into their correct categories.

In numeracy we have been ordering and learning, days, of the week and months of the years.  We have been exploring calendars and learning how they work.

We are really enjoying our Toys topic and have been sorting old and new toys, exploring how toys move and the forces used to move them. We also were exploring objects that will sink and float and thinking about why they do. We are also exploring the materials that Toys are made from to.

A special thank you to Mr Murray who provided an opportunity for the children to plant trees, and learn why it was important to do this. The children had a fabulous time…. and the parents too……

Have a lovely weekend and check in soon for our next update.
