Today we enjoyed playing outside with the sand pit and water station.
In maths we have been working on Information handling and we have been learning to sort and collect information.
In literacy we have been revising our sounds and focusing on completing independent literacy activities in our special jotters.
Next week is Health Week. The children should come to school each day wearing shorts, t-shirts and trainers ready to complete their different sports and activities.
What a busy week we have had in Primary One! On Wednesday afternoon we had our party in the park. We listened to music, played and enjoyed the sunshine whilst eating yummy ice lollies as a special treat.
As it was world of work week we spent time thinking about different jobs and had great fun dressing up as fire fighters, doctors, nurses, and police officers.
In literacy this week we have been working hard making and writing words including learning our key words.
In maths we were learning about time and are experts at telling o’clock times using both analogue and digital clocks. We even made our own clocks using paper plates.
We have been so busy this week with all our Big Talks. The children were absolutely fabulous getting up in front of everyone and telling us all about their families. We really appreciate all the effort put in from home with their posters and photographs. They looked so good we have put them up on display but don’t worry, we will make sure all your lovely photos are returned before the end of term.
We had great fun playing with the ECC children during our Numeracy morning on Wednesday.
In maths we have been exploring Measures such as weight, time, length and capacity.
We also had great fun outside learning about Minibeasts
It’s been a very busy week and we are all excited for our holiday tomorrow. Enjoy your long weekend and we will see you next Wednesday.
Just a little reminder that next week is our Big Talk week. Each child will give a 5 minute presentation to the class about ‘Me and My Family’. (see previous post or letter for details)
Please bring in photos/drawings on the day below as the children will present on different days. The days are as follows:
Monday 22nd May: Harper, Carson, Hunter, Harley, Ayla and Ava
We had the first of our transition afternoons this week when the children from the ECC came for a visit on Tuesday and Thursday. The Primary Ones did a super job of playing with them and showing them around the classroom. They were helping them to build models, make things at the creation station and we even had someone reading stories to them in the book corner.
This week we have been learning about 3D shapes such as cubes, spheres, cones and cuboids.
Have a lovely holiday weekend and we will see you all next Tuesday.
