We had great fun in PE this week. We practiced shooting a ball into the goal, threw javelins, threw beanbags into hoops and practiced skipping.
In numeracy this week we have been so busy doing addition and subtraction assessments and in literacy we have been learning the ‘y’ and ‘z’ sounds. We painted beautiful yellow sunflowers and we made a zoo.
This week is all about organising the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Hope you enjoy this activity and if you’d rather chose a more familiar story – then feel free to change it!
Please complete and return by Monday 27th January.
A short week here in P1 but we still managed to work our socks off. In numeracy we learned all about missing number addition and subtraction calculations and we used number lines and Numicon to help us work them out.
In literacy we were revising letter formation and writing silly sentences. We also tried to make letters using the big wooden blocks.
Just before the holidays we got a beautiful new Promethean board in our classroom but I think we were more excited by the giant box it came in and all the bubble wrap, foam and metallic foil used to protect it. We had so much fun creating things with all the packaging and lying on the floor drawing on the boxes.
We have had a busy week in P1. We have been making jam sandwiches and learning some Scottish country dancing as well as our usual numeracy and literacy work.
For P.E this week, we learned the St Bernard’s Waltz and the Canadian Barn Dance. We had great fun partnering up and whirling each other round. The children were brilliant and following the steps as well as putting their own spin on things!
In literacy we learned ‘j’ and ‘v’ and had a great time making jam sandwiches, creating jellyfish, painting volcanoes, making a village and pretending to be vets. I have put new sound cards in the book bags for the children who brought their book bags today but still need quite a few in next week if you could try hard to remember to bring them in.
In Numeracy we have continued to learn subtraction and have been trying different ways to work our calculations.
