For Parents

PLEASE NOTE DETAILS ARE LIKELY TO CHANGE DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC – INFORMATION WILL BE SHARED VIA OUR SCHOOL APP.

Be on time for school, last session, lessons began at 8.55am.

We run a soft start in the school where doors opened at 8.50am to allow pupils to go to their classes and get ready for learning.
The end of day bell rings at 3pm, please try to have a known responsible adult in the playground to collect your child at this time.

All primary 1 pupils should be dropped off and collected at the back double doors under the shelter – see below for photos.

During Covid-19, we will leave marks to ensure spacing, please use these to help us all stay safe.

If you are late in the morning or running late at the end of the school day, please inform the main office. This will allow us to let the class teacher, and your child know, and prevent any unnecessary worry.

If your child is going to be absent from school, you must phone the school on the first morning of their absence.

You can then let the Office staff know how long you anticipate your child will not attend school.

If you do not, Miss Hunter will contact you or your emergency contacts by phone each day of the absence.

On return to school after an absence, please send a short note to the class teacher to let us know the reason for the absence.

Talk about the school day together. Explain that there are times for play and lunch and also times when work is done.
Reassure your child that you will return to collect them and will hear all about their exciting day when you meet them.
Build up a routine for school days to ensure that all the family stay calm.
Let the teacher know of any allergies, medical or family problems that may be relevant or may hinder your child from settling at school.

We will be using the rainbow symbol and Peter Rabbit to help the children find their way around the school and to keep a safe distance, particularly due to Covid-19. Please let your child know this and help them to become familiar with these symbols.

Ensure that your child has a school tool kit in their bag:

  • PE kit – indoor gym shoes and shorts.
  • Due to Covid-19, it would be very helpful if children could bring their own pencil case with sharp pencils, a rubber, a sharpener and colouring in pencils or crayons.
  • Water – plain drinking water in a suitable container.
  • Snack – one item is more than enough to eat at playtimes.
  • Lunch – free school meal (all Pr.1s) or packed lunch box. Please note, we are a nut free school so please don’t pack any items containing nuts for snack or lunch. We have children with severe nut allergies. We run a cashless system in our school through a website called Parent Pay. Details, instructions and log-in information will be sent out via letter prior to your child starting.
  • We will be taking as many opportunities as possible for outdoor learning, especially because of Covid-19, therefore, please make sure you child has suitable clothes for being outside in our Scottish weather.
  • Always check your child’s school bag for letters, newsletters etc.
