Welcome back!\u00a0 The children were excited to be back and had many stories to tell from their Easter holiday!<\/p>\n

This week is a consolidation week for literacy so there will be no new sound.\u00a0 New reading books have been allocated to those who have returned their folders.\u00a0 Assessment of sounds and common words will be done this week and I will let you know how the children get on with this.\u00a0 Thank you.<\/p>\n

This week is a consolidation week for literacy so there will be no new sound.\u00a0 Reading books have been allocated to those children who have returned their folders.\u00a0 New games have been allocated on Education City too.\u00a0 This week is Snapshot Jotter week – the children will bring home their jotters home for you to see on Friday.\u00a0 Could the children please bring back the jotters on Monday.\u00a0 Thank you!<\/p>\n

This week our sound is ‘th’ and our common words are, this<\/strong>, that<\/strong> and then<\/strong>.\u00a0 If the children have returned their homework folders reading books have gone home too.\u00a0 New games have been allocated for Education City.<\/p>\n

Here is a game to help practise spelling words with the ‘th’ sound.\u00a0 Select ‘th’ from the main menu.\u00a0 You could also have a go at words with the ‘sh’ sound too.<\/p>\n

Login details are stuck on the inside of the homework folders but please let me know if you don\u2019t have them. \u00a0I will set new tasks each week. \u00a0No new sound this week as it is a consolidation week.<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are y and z and our common words are, have,<\/strong> your<\/strong> and by.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most children were given a folder with the sounds and common words they need to practise inside.\u00a0 If your child didn’t get one today they will get one home tomorrow. \u00a0All children should have a reading book home this week.\u00a0 Thank you again for your continued support with the homework.<\/p>\n

24.1.22<\/p>\n

This week is a consolidation week for our sounds.\u00a0 I will be carrying out an assessment of the sounds and common words taught so far.\u00a0 I will let you know how the children get on with this and which ones might need a little more practise.<\/p>\n

Reading books will be sent home as normal.\u00a0 if your child didn’t get a book today they will get it tomorrow.<\/p>\n

This week are sounds are, j and v and our common words are, have, just and to. The children have been issued a copy of their Scottish poem for our school poetry competition. The children can learn to recite this at home \u00a0if they would like to take part. Our poem is ‘Nessie’ by JK Annand. \u00a0We will also be practising in class. Thanks again for your continued support.<\/p>\n

Happy New Year and welcome to our first full week back!\u00a0 Homework has been issued this week.\u00a0 Our sounds are, ‘h’ and ‘w’ and our common words are, was, went<\/strong> and his.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>As a school we are all taking part in a Scottish themed topic.\u00a0 Primary 1 are completing some activities based on the book called, Harris the Hero, all about a Scottish puffin!\u00a0 We have sent home a research task to be completed by the 21st January.\u00a0 This is inside the homework folder.\u00a0 Thank you.<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are ‘b’ and ‘u’ and our common words are, be,<\/strong> but<\/strong> and you.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There were some busy elves in Santa’s Workshop this afternoon and we also had fun making our Christmas cards which we will finish tomorrow.\u00a0 \u00a0Eddie our classroom elf was found relaxing\u00a0 in his hammock made with one of my masks!<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are ‘f’ and ‘o’ and our common words are, if, for<\/strong> and ‘on<\/strong>.’<\/p>\n

Week beginning 22.11.21<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are ‘g’ and ‘l’ and our common words are, go,<\/strong> got<\/strong> and get.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The children have brought home copies of the songs they are learning for their Christmas Service, if you had any spare time to practise these that would be greatly appreciated.\u00a0 Please could the children bring their homework back on a Friday in their blue folder to protect their reading book.\u00a0 Thank you.<\/p>\n

Week beginning 15.11.21<\/p>\n

This week is a consolidation week for our sounds and common words.\u00a0 The children have their sound jotters home this week to keep practising their sounds and words.\u00a0 Some children also have a reading book this week to read at home.<\/p>\n

Education city passwords have been glued to the inside of the opening to the homework folder.\u00a0 Please feel free to go on and have a look at the games on offer.\u00a0 Actual homework tasks will be allocated soon.<\/p>\n

There is also a letter about a task the children will be doing as part of Scottish Book Week.\u00a0 The children are to choose a character they would like to invite for Christmas dinner.\u00a0 If possible could the children please bring in a book which has their favourite character in it.\u00a0 Thank you!<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are c, k and ck and our common words are can,<\/strong> we<\/strong> and into.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Education City passwords will be coming home soon which will allow children to access a variety of literacy and numeracy games.<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are ‘r’ and ‘m’ and are common words are am,<\/strong> me<\/strong> and my.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>We will be making Hallowe’en masks for the letter m!\u00a0 We read the story of The Bumpy Pumpkin on Monday.\u00a0 Look out for our own bumpy pumpkins coming home on Friday!<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are ‘p’ and ‘n.’\u00a0 On Monday we made parrot puppets and made a letter p with pasta!\u00a0 In our jotters you will see our three common words for this week which are an, is<\/strong> and and.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The children have also brought a number workbook home which they have been using in class.\u00a0 Please feel free to complete the pages that have not been done.<\/p>\n

This week our sounds are\u00a0 ‘s’ and ‘i.’\u00a0 We learnt ‘s’ today and will look at ‘i ‘ on Wednesday.\u00a0 We had fun making spotty snakes!\u00a0 What can you find around the house with the s sound?\u00a0 In our jotters you will see our three common words for this week which are I, in<\/strong> and it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The children will bring home a folder today containing a sound jotter.\u00a0 Please read the letter on the inside of this jotter for more information.\u00a0 This weeks sounds are ‘a’ and ‘t’ and our common words are a, at<\/strong> and the.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>There is also a subitising game and flashcards with all the common words we will teach this year.\u00a0 There is also a username and password for the Sumdog website to practise numeracy skills.\u00a0 There is a link for this website on the useful links tab at the top of the main page.\u00a0 Please do not answer the diagnostic questions for your child as this sets the game at a level for them and changes as they progress.\u00a0 Homework will be issued on a Monday to be returned on a Friday.\u00a0 If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
