These 4 subjects are vital in solving this current pandemic and adults who specialise in these areas are working very hard to solve / improve it.

Therefore we want learners to experience fun activities that utilise these subjects and skills and maybe they’ll become future problem solvers.

This page will provide ideas for activities relating to STEM and will hopefully inspire learners to further explore these skills.

Week beginning 1.6.20 STEM in the sun ☀️

The weather is to be great this week so here are some ideas to keep you busy outside:

Use the sun to create prints. This activity helps show the long term effects of the sun.

Record your shadow at different times during the day. This helps show us the sun’s movement across the sky. You can also colour in your shadow art using chalk.

Create a structure that protects people, animals or objects from the sun.  Think about the best material to use, how to keep it upright and sturdy and testing the structure.  For example, see how long it takes for a piece of chocolate to melt under your shelter.

⚠️Remember to be safe in the sun, wear sunscreen, drink plenty of water and sit in the shade sometimes.

Lava Lamp experiment – ask an adult’s permission first! 🧪

Here are instructions from CBeebies. I am not including the video since it would be more fun to see what happens doing it yourself. 😀
