These more &#8216;tricky&#8217; words are taught each week too. You will be able to spot the common words that do and don&#8217;t have the joined phoneme you are learning each week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #800080\">The common words you are to revise this week are-<\/span><\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">d<span style=\"color: #339966\">ay<\/span>, aw<span style=\"color: #339966\">ay<\/span>, alw<span style=\"color: #339966\">ay<\/span>s, tod<span style=\"color: #339966\">ay<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><span style=\"color: #339966\">ea<\/span>ch, ask, y<span style=\"color: #339966\">ea<\/span>r, <span style=\"color: #339966\">ea<\/span>t<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">yell<span style=\"color: #339966\">ow<\/span>, gr<span style=\"color: #339966\">ow<\/span>, again, food<\/span><\/h2>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #008080\">Parents and Carers-<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #008080\">Here are some strategies you can try with your &#8216;Homework Buddy&#8217; to help learn these words-\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 55\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800080\">Modelling and Teaching a Variety of Spelling Strategies<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\">To help children\u2019s spelling development and to increase their spelling confidence, collaborative working aims to encourage them to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Listen to the sounds in words<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Be constantly interested and aware of words, word patterns and word shapes<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Identify single sounds and phoneme blends in words<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Learn to spell words using a mnemonic if appropriate (a mnemonic is a phrase that helps us remember how to spell a &#8216;tricky&#8217; word, such as <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">DOES<\/span>: <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">D<\/span>addy <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">o<\/span>nly <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">e<\/span>ats <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">s<\/span>andwiches)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Use learned spelling rules and spelling patterns where appropriate<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Listen and identify syllables in each word \u2013 yes\/ter\/day<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Break each syllable into individual phonemes.<\/span><br \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #339966\">With a partner I can:<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Look at the word<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Think about the word<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Discuss the word, and the part which is tricky<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Say the word<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Practise and learn the structure of the word<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Spell the word independently<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966\">Check the accuracy of the word I have spelled\/written.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">Happy Learning!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">Team P3 x<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Roald Dahl Day!
