HOMEWORK WEEK BEGINNING 26.10.20

Below are suggested homework activities to assist your child in practising work they have been learning about in class and can be completed at any point throughout this week.

A homework jotter has been provided for you to record any answers.

Limit your child to using two pages each week please.

Staff will NOT COLLECT THESE but you could photograph the pages and upload them to your child’s personal Glow page. See the “How to” video on the main page to help you.

Challenge activities have been included at the end of each curricular area section if you feel your child can extend the concepts – these are not compulsory.

Your teachers would like to remind you that you should try to access Bug Club and read regularly throughout the week.

Ensure that you find the Bugs hidden on some of the pages and that their eyes close once you’ve finished answering the questions for your book.

Library books and bedtime stories also count towards your reading each week, so settle down and get page turning. 😊

LITERACY

– Log into Bug Club and read a book.

– Watch the following videos.

– Make a list of “ee” and “oo” words – try to include some Hallowe’en words which contain these sounds.

– How many did you come up with?

– Look at the spiders in the image below and draw four into your jotter. Choose 8 of the trickiest “ee” and “oo” words. Using two words per spider, write them on the legs four times each – an example is included below.

CHALLENGE

– Make two Hallowe’en themed sentences IN YOUR JOTTER using “ee” and “oo” words.

NUMERACY & MATHS

– Watch this video

– Can you find objects around the house/garden to show doubles and then write the calculations in your jotter? For example, 6 stones to represent 3 + 3 = 6. Feel free to take and share some pictures of the doubles you make.

OTHER CURRICULAR AREAS: ART & DESIGN

House System Competition – Family Challenge!

– The old houses Burns, Fleming, Livingstone and Scott have been voted out and we need your help coming up with a new logo for each of our new houses. The new houses and colours are explained on your sheet. With your family and using the sheet provided, design a logo for your new house. The deadline for entries is Friday 6th November which will give a two-week window for ideas to be handed back into school. Prizes will also be presented to the winner for each of the houses.

HALLOWE’EN FUN!

– Try out the pumpkin themed activities below. Have a look in any games you may have for dice, if you can’t find any all you have to do is click on this link https://www.random.org/dice/ or type into the Google search engine “dice roller” and click “roll”

– Can you practise the spelling of pumpkin every morning and get super fit at the same time?

Happy Hallowe’en🎃

Have a great week!
