Letter from the Head of Education

Message to all parents/carers from the Head of Education

Tuesday 19th October 2021

Dear parent/carer,

I hope that you and your families are well and enjoyed the October break.

I am aware that there has been much speculation in the media around potential changes to the mitigations we have in place in schools and centres to keep transmission of Covid-19 as low as possible. I can confirm that this morning we have received confirmation from Scottish Government that our existing mitigations, which were due to be reviewed at the October break, will remain in place at the current time. This will be kept under review until there is a sustained decrease in case rates.

This means that the wearing of face coverings for all secondary pupils (unless exempt) will remain in place. We will continue to keep you informed as updates are shared with us.

Please continue to be vigilant for any potential symptoms of Coronavirus, including “low level” symptoms such as sore heads, sore throats, upset stomachs and cold like symptoms. If your child displays symptoms, please do not send them to school/ECC and book a PCR test. This approach ensures that we are detecting cases early and keeping everyone as safe as possible.

I hope that this information is helpful and am grateful to you for your continued support.

Kind regards,

LINDA McAULAY-GRIFFITHS
Chief Education Officer and Head of Education

Improvement Plan

Please find attached a copy of Onthank Ecc 2021/2022 Improvement Plan.

This plan outlines the focus the centre will be taking for the coming year to support our children’s learning and how we aim to work together with our families to engage them in the life of the centre, through building relationships to encourage family learning.

If you require a paper copy of the improvement plan, please contact the centre and we will organise this for you.

Thank You.

Rag Bag

Dear Parents/Guardians
Each year we team up with the fundraising charity “Rag Bags” to raise some money for our Nursery.
Rag Bags is a textile recycling charity who pay us for collecting bags of wearable clothes, paired shoes, bags and belts, so if you are having a clear out and could fill 1 or 2 bags for us, this would be very much appreciated.
The collection bags should be arriving very shortly and the date for collection is 24th September.
We will let you know when the bags arrive and can be picked up at drop off and collection or from our Reception.
Many thanks for your support.
Onthank Ecc.

September Weekend

On Friday 17th and Monday 20th September 2021 the centre will be CLOSED to ALL children due to public holidays.

All children RETURN on Tuesday 21st September 2021.

We hope everyone enjoys a long weekend and we will look forward to welcoming you all back on the Tuesday 21st

Be Weather Wise

Can we please remind all parents/carers to ensure that before your child attends nursery they have sun cream applied during this very warm weather.

Can you also ensure you provide sun cream in your child’s bag that can be re-applied throughout the day and a sun hat to protect their head, neck and faces.

During this warm weather we are spending a great deal of time outdoors and do not want to risk your child taking any reactions to being out in the sun.

Please can we also remind you to return the sun cream consent form that is within your welcome booklet which allows us to reapply the sun cream throughout your child’s session.

Thank You.

Our New Depute

As Jennifer has now retired, we look forward to welcoming Lee Boyd who has been appointed as our new Depute Manager.

Lee worked with us previously, so we are looking forward to welcoming her back to the centre in the coming weeks.

Good Luck Lee in your new post at Onthank Ecc.

Happy Retirement Jennifer

On Friday 13th August we said our final farewell and shared lots of best wishes to Jennifer, our Depute Manager who has now retired.

Jennifer has been a part of Onthank Ecc for over 25 years and we have all thoroughly enjoyed working with Jennifer, but we as a staff team can not thank her enough for all the support, guidance and learning she has provided for each and every one of us as a Senior Practitioner and latterly as our Depute.

We are sure all of our children and families who have known Jennifer during these years along with us wish her the very best in her much deserved retirement.

Return to Education

Please find the attached information issued by the NHS regarding the return of children to Education.

Please be aware that we are still following Covid Guidance that was in place before the Summer Holidays commenced and we will continue to do so for a further 5 weeks under Government advice.

Therefore please continue to wear a face covering when dropping off/collecting your child from the centre unless you are exempt. Please also remain 2 meters apart during this time to ensure the safely of all of our children, families and staff.

If your child or any member of your family displays symptoms of Covid, then please contact the centre and do not attend.

We look forward to welcoming back our children who are returning on Thursday 19th and we are excited to meet our new children and families who will begin Monday 23rd August.

You should have already received a letter outlining your child’s start date and time. Please adhere to the time that has been allocated to you. If for any reason you did not receive a letter or have misplaced it, please do not hesitate to phone the centre.

Please see above a poster sent to us to share with you all from NHS Ayrshire & Arran Speech and Language Therapists to offer support in developing talking and playing with your baby before and after birth.
