Week 2 Update

We have had another very busy week in school. Mrs Kane is very impressed with how well we have all settled in and how hard we are working.

We read The Rainbow Fish this week and will be exploring the book and it’s theme of friendship, sharing and kindness. The story was a great hit with all of us and we loved making our own rainbow fish which we put on our ceiling. We think that our classroom is now an ocean!

We did lots of different activities again this week, some of which were linked to our Rainbow Fish book. Activities are great for providing an element of pupil choice whilst developing social skills, fine motor skills and learning or consolidating new things.

We also wrote our first story this week. Primary 1s drew their story and Mrs Kane helped us by writing down the story we told her. Primary 2s did all their own writing and Mrs Kane thought our writing was fantastic! We will all be getting a copy of our story next week so that we can share it with you!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Our First Homework

This week is our first homework week (though this homework can be “turned in” until next Friday so there is no rush).

I have provided your child with a little paper bag in which pupils should collect three items that represent them. This task will encourage children to talk about themselves and will help us to get to know each other.

It would be great if you could practise at home with your child what they could say about each item. Maybe your child could do a wee fun presentation to you and siblings or other family members before bringing the bag into school.

Here is my own All About Me bag as an example:

Hello, I’m Mrs Kane and I have brought in 3 things today to help me tell you all about me.

My first item is a piece of wool that I have knitted. It is a test piece for a sweater I’m knitting just now. I love to knit, crochet and sew. My favourite colour is purple which is why I chose this wool for my sweater.

My next item is a sheep. Sheep are my favourite animals because they remind me of Scotland and I love seeing them in the fields. My best friend gave me this sheep.

My last item is a piece of cheese because I love cheese, it’s my favourite snack!

I can’t wait to see all the lovely All About Me bags the class will bring in and we will also share some of them on here if possible.

Have fun with this homework!

Welcome to Primary 1/2

Hello and welcome to our class blog!

The blog is still empty but I am hoping to be able to fill it soon with pictures and descriptions of our learning journey. You will also be able to find our term planners and homework information here in due course.

For now, I hope that you and your child will enjoy our first week in school and everyone settles in well.

I am looking forward to seeing you at the school gates.

Mrs Kane
