This week, we had visitors from Dean Castle who taught us about animal dens and nests, let us try to start a campfire, showed us how to deal with a call of nature when there is no toilet nearby, and taught us how to keep safe from midges. We had such a great time!
We also had a visit from our local community PC and from our Childsmile toothbrushing ladies.
In our activities time we worked hard on improving our maths and literacy skills this week. P1s continued to improve their number formation and counting to 5. They also learned their last sound for the first set of sounds and are now revising all of the first 6 sounds. We all continued to practise finding rhyming words and did loads of sound recognition games.
P2s practised their reading and comprehension. We also wrote sentences using common and tricky words. Our spelling sounds this week were oo and ee which we practised in different activities. Some of our literacy work also involved making CVC words.
We also painted our Christmas cards which you will be able to order after the September weekend 😂
I hope that everyone has a wonderful long weekend!
The outdoor class was a big hit in our house! Looks like great fun with the park rangers.
Everyone really enjoyed it and we are all looking forward to this week’s session.
