P3/4 had a super day at their Roman Camp! Click the link below to see what we got up to!

Roman Camp

Primary 3/4 have settled in well and have been busy this term!

Our history topic has focused on the Romans.  We have learned about the spread of the Roman Empire and why the Romans invaded Britain. We have learned about inventions that were invented and developed by the Romans, which are still used today in Modern Britain.

Primary 3/4 also explored the kind of clothing Roman soldiers wore and the weapons they used. We created our own version of a mangonel catapult, so we went outside to test them out.  One of the catapults threw a cube which landed 6 metres away!

Primary 3/4 have also had fun making Roman bread and Roman mosaic vases with Mrs Young.

In numeracy, we have been learning about place value, addition and subtraction, as well as playing games to practise our 2 and 5 times table.  We have also been practising Number Talks, focusing on repeated addition and groupings.

In literacy, we have been working on adjectives, full stops, and capital letters which has been the focus throughout our writing.

We have also continued to develop our spelling skills through active spelling such as using chalk pens, stampers and magnetic letters.

In health and wellbeing, Primary 3/4 have been focusing on food and keeping healthy. We conducted an experiment to show the importance of hand washing. We took some pieces of bread and touched the bread with clean, dirty and sanitised hands to show the effectiveness of soap. Check the pictures to see the shocking results! Primary 3/4 have also investigated the Eatwell Guide, discussed the reasons why we need food and identified the kinds of foods we need to eat to maintain a balanced diet.

Primary 3/4 have been learning French. We have been practising how to greet someone, share feelings, to ask and say our name, and to count to ten. We have played games and learned songs to practise our French.
