More Term 2 News!

We hope you found last week’s update helpful.  We have a little more news to share!

Anti Bully Week

As part of anti-bullying week, children have been learning about what bullying is and what it is not.

They have been reminded about how to report any incidents of bullying and of the importance of kindness and tolerance towards others.  We have focused on this work this week to highlight anti bullying week, but we revisit this often in classes, as part of our Health and Wellbeing Programme and hopefully soon be able to focus on this at our new Together Time when restrictions allow for this to start!

Primary 6/7 took kindness pledges.  Here is a short video of them making these.  The children will be reminded of this work over the course of the year.    P6-7 Kindness Pledge

Our Positive Behaviour and Relationships Policy and Respect Me Policy are on our Promoting Positive Behaviour page on the blog.  Staff are currently reviewing the ECC Positive Behaviour and Relationships Policy and this will be added soon.

COP 26

Over the last few weeks, all classes in the school and ECC have been learning about Climate Change, recognising the work and importance of COP 26.  Payton and Lainey took part in an East Ayrshire COPS 26 Youth Conference a few weeks ago and they will help lead our work in making pledges as a school community to endeavor to take better care of our environment and planet, not only for us but for future generations.  Each class/ECC took a theme from COPS 26 and learned about it.  They are in the process of creating work to add to our whole school, “our world, our future” display which we will share with you soon.

ECC Out to Play /Outdoor Learning

As you will have seen from our app, staff within the ECC have been involved in an Education Scotland Improvement Project called Out to Play.  The centre will be involved in the creation of a video piece, being recorded tomorrow (Thursday 18th), to share with Early Years Colleagues across Scotland.  Mrs Millar is also involved in an authority professional learning group who share practice about outdoor learning.  Our Garden drop off/collection is one of the key areas the authority outdoor learning team are looking to promote as good practice!
