Burns Celebration Reminder

Tomorrow is the whole school Burns Celebration with the Early Childhood centre joining us for part of the afternoon. The chosen finalists from each class will perform to the school and our invited guests. Children are welcome to add a touch of tartan to their uniform. Please note that it is not a dress down day.

As part of the celebrations school pupils will be offered a small taste of haggis, cheese and oatcakes. Irn Bru (sugar free) will also be given out as part of the celebrations and letters have already been issued should your child have any dietary requirements.

Finalists will perform again to invited parents on Friday afternoon. Letters have already been issued to the parents/carers of those involved.

We can’t wait to hear all the fantastic talent we have in our school!

Chinese New Year in the ECC

We have been learning all about Chinese New Year and the customs of the celebration.

We have had a go at using chopsticks with noodles that we cooked and also writing Chinese symbols in red and gold glitter.  The children made their own Chinese Dragon from loose parts play dough and then took a photo of their own creation.

We can also feed a Dragon using lucky tangerines while working on our 1 to 1 correspondence.

Here is what we know about Chinese New Year so far:

“Red, it’s a special colour cause it’s lucky”  – Aimee-Leigh

It’s gold for good fortune and lots of money’ – Violet

We got a coin in a wee box (wallet) – Leon L

‘It was Happy New Year and we got it (tangerine) as a gift saying good wishes” – Macey
