Can children please come to school wearing appropriate footwear and leggings\/track suit trousers on the bottom half with school uniform on top half on these days. Also, can earrings also be removed too please.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sports Day – 8.06.22, children come to school wearing their house colours if they wish.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Trip to Dumfries House – 16.06.22<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Please take 5 to 10 minutes each night to carry out these tasks with your child<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Task 1 – Sounds\/Phonemes<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have now learned all the sounds to be taught in P1. Using you child\u2019s personalised revision sound sheet, please read over the sounds each night.\u00a0 If your child doesn’t have one in their school\u00a0 bag they don’t require one but please continue to read over the sounds books each night.<\/p>\n

Task 2 – Word lists\/reading books<\/strong><\/p>\n

If your child has been issued with a word list or reading book (not all children have these yet) please go over the words and reading.<\/p>\n

Please ensure reading books are brought to school everyday as they are required daily.<\/span><\/p>\n

Task 3 – Formation\/Name writing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please practise writing both first and second names each night.\u00a0 Please practise the correct formation of the letters.<\/p>\n

Task 4 – Common Words<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please continue to read over the common word wall, focussing on the set your child is working on.<\/p>\n

Task 1 – Teen numbers and beyond!<\/p>\n

Dictate numbers 11-20 for your child to write down, encourage the correct order of digits and formation of numbers. Ask your child to tell you about the number, encourage them to partition or break up the number into tens and units, eg 11 – eleven has 1 block of ten and 1 one. If your child is confident with these numbers, challenge them to do this activity with numbers beyond 20, what is the biggest number they can write and partition? The place value game below is really good to further develop this understanding.<\/p>\n
