We filled and hung our bird feeders outside in the playground today.
It was a bit windy but we think we have them tied on well enough to stay so that the little birds can come and visit our playground 🙂

We went to the NCDT garden today to plant in our school planter. We planted different flowers and can’t wait to see them grow!
This morning we were practising Mindfulness to help us relax, we really enjoyed the different scenery and pictures on the video 🙂
Today, we had a fantastic time when Howie Pitman, the Dean Park Ranger came to talk to us about Dams, Flooding and creatures we might find in the River Afton.
Here are some pictures of the experiment we carried out measuring which material; big rocks, small rocks or sand was the best to hold back water. We talked about giving some advice to the men building the  flood defences at the river just now :0

Here was the time it took the water to go through the big black rocks…

the small rocks..
the sand…
and then the sock i.e. makeshift sandbag…

Today we were using our literacy and numeracy skills to read a recipe and measure quantities whilst making pancakes.

This morning we were learning about American brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright. These brothers were responsible for inventing the first ever aeroplane. The picture below shows the timeline of flight and the boys were able to answer questions about what we learned.
This morning we decided to help our Sunflowers by adding a stick and tying it to help the stem grow straight. Check them out below, they are getting tall!
Sensory Time
During our sensory time, we tried out a new substance similar to Playdough. It was called Mad Matter!
We wanted to know the difference between Playdough and Mad Matter. We listened really carefully to the words (adjectives) each person used to describe the new substance. Here are some we came up with; sandy, soft, rough, smooth and crumbly. We noticed Mad Matter changes when the heat of your hands bring it all together!
Here we are using utensils to roll and squeeze the playdough into different shapes.
Mrs Bradford joined us and she managed to make some slugs using the Mad Matter 🙂
This week we took advantage of the beautiful New Cumnock sunshine to play outdoors 🙂
Here we are playing a game of Shark!
And here we were playing a game of Whispers :0
