This morning we read a story called The Troll by Julia Donaldson. In the story the troll likes to cook and eat goat but he can never catch any on top of the bridges. He finds a treasure chest filled with gold, little does he know there are pirates in search of this treasure…the boys loved the humour in this story and the ending.
We decided to write a nice fish recipe for the pirates as they are all rubbish cooks! Here is our recipe below.
This morning the boys started the day by imagining their safe space. Jackie told us his safe space is his bed and Harry told us his is a massive island called Moneyland which looks like a £1 coin. On this island Harry is very small and he likes to chill.
I think visualising their safe space is a good strategy for them to use if/when they get upset 🙂
Today we visited the Lagoons in New Cumnock with Howie and Charlotte from Dean Park. They taught us lots about the pond life and how to use a Kelly Kettle with supervision. They even treated us to hot chocolate and a huge toasted marshmallow. Yum!
To finish, we tried our hand at starting a fire using flint and steel.
A great morning was had by all! 🙂
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday the boys are being taught three different techniques to help manage their emotions.
Here are the boys this morning taking part in Visualisation where we imagine ourselves in a safe/favourite place e.g. the beach, the park or our own bedrooms.
We take some deep breaths to help ground ourselves and feel calmer 🙂
We are hoping the different strategies will help the boys over time.
The NCDT had plants that needed a home so they let us gift them to special people to brighten up their day!
In ICT the boys were working on improving their multiplication and division through the fun Times Table Rock Stars online game!
They were also using 3D paint to identify different shapes.
The boys loved their STEM challenge this morning.
The bears on their own were not enough of a challenge for the boys, they wanted to use highlighter pens as well. Here are the results below…
They managed to take the weight of 12 highlighters ans 9 bears! Well done:)
We had our weekly visit to NCDT today to water our plants. We could see a huge difference in our plants. Tammy was kind enough to let us take some produce from their free table. We took fruit and vegetables and made a healthy snack 😋
Our HWB group enjoyed a beautiful sunny walk today. We stopped to take in our scenery for relaxation and drew using the inspiration around us.
In nurture we have had a table that has had at least 2 wobbly legs for a while now. Neve and Mrs Ramsay decided it was time to get the tools out and fix the wobbly legs!
