Rhyme of the month

Why is it important to sing nursery rhymes?

Research shows that singing nursery rhymes helps develop children’s language, communication and social skills from an early age.  Introducing children to a variety of nursery rhymes can help them to understand initial sounds.  It also helps them to learn new beats, words and rhythms.

Each month your child will learn a new nursery rhyme within the centre.  This rhyme will also be on our twitter page with a link for you to click on so that you are able to share this with your child and join in together at home.  Also look out on the twitter page for a video of you child’s group taking part in singing our rhyme of the month.

This month our rhyme is…..

Sign of the month

What is Makaton?

Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. With Makaton, signs are used, with speech, in spoken word order. This helps provide extra clues about what someone is saying.

Our Makaton champion Katherine, demonstrates some simple signs that have been introduced throughout our centre to help with communication development.

This month our sign of the month is……

Please note the ECC/school car park is strictly for staff and blue badge holders only. This is due to health and safety issues surrounding children entering and exiting the building.  Thank You
