Hello Everyone,<\/p>\n
After a successful interview process conducted by last years\u2019 JRSO Team, we am very proud to introduce you to your new JRSO Team for 2025\/2026.<\/p>\n
Welcome to our 1st<\/sup> post. We are Harry, Travis, Amber and Grace and we are in Primary 6. We are looking forward to representing Nether Robertland in our new leadership role and are very excited to get started on our journey with Miss McMillan supporting us.<\/p>\n We would like to continue the excellent work done by last years\u2019 team by continuing to highlight the importance of Road Safety and look at different things we can do to keep ourselves safe. Last year a \u20185 star award\u2019 was introduced for all schools to strive to, and our school EASILY gained this award. We would like to do the same and hope to be rewarded for our efforts come June next year.<\/p>\n To help us gain this award, we will be attending a seminar in September with other schools to learn new skills and share ideas. We will have a competition, create informative displays in the gym hall as well as speaking at assemblies throughout the year. We will be taking part in Walk to School Week as well as other initiatives throughout the year. Our mascot Ziggy will also be there to keep us focused on our leadership role.<\/p>\n Our journey will be documented in a floor book that we will keep updated as well as here on the school website. We have a noticeboard in the gym hall that will have useful information for all to see.<\/p>\n Finally, we would like you to have a read and adhere to the JRSO Charter that is attached. Please remember the slogan at the bottom of the charter if this applies to you and<\/p>\n Show us you care, park elsewhere!<\/p>\n Thank you from Harry, Travis, Amber and Grace<\/strong><\/p>\n JRSO Update – Big Walk and Wheel<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Together, we spoke at assembly today (10.03.26) to highlight this years\u2019 Big Walk and Wheel event which starts on Monday 16th<\/sup> March and runs until Friday 27th<\/sup> March. We would like to encourage you all to walk, cycle and scoot to school every day, but particularly over the 2 weeks that we are promoting.<\/p>\n Big Walk and Wheel is the UK\u2019s largest walking, scooting and cycling challenge. It inspires pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in our neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit our world.<\/p>\n Active travel is a great way to build physical activity into our daily routine. It helps us arrive at school more relaxed and alert, and is great for our mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n Look out for our posters around the school and our notice board in the gym hall for a reminder of the details.<\/p>\n JRSO December Update<\/strong><\/p>\n The JRSOs have been campaigning along with North, South and East Ayrshire schools to highlight the dangers of E-Scooters. They created posters and presented at assembly, highlighting the dangers. Please see the PowerPoint below with more information.<\/p>\n As special treat for all their last work this session, the JRSOs enjoyed a nice Christmas breakfast with Miss McMillan.<\/p>\n E-SCOOTER PRESENTATION POWER POINT.<\/a><\/p>\n JRSO November Update<\/strong><\/p>\n Hello!<\/p>\n Recently at assembly, we spoke about the dangers of walking through the school car park.<\/p>\n We have our display in the gym hall to show you the safe paths to use.<\/p>\n Last month we went outside with our Hi-Viz vests on to highlight where the dangers are around our school and where the safe walking routes are. You will see a map of these below. We want to stop you from putting yourself in danger.<\/p>\n Not that long ago, one of our friends was nearly knocked down because they were cutting through the car park on their scooter. This would have been avoided if they had used the safe paths.<\/p>\n We don\u2019t want anyone getting hurt or run over so please make sure you use the safe paths and NOT cut through the car park as a quick way to get into the playground.<\/p>\n From Travis, Grace, Harry & Amber.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n JRSO Seminar 2025 – Update<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n We would like to start off by saying a BIG THANK YOU to Travis\u2019s Mum for dropping us off in Troon to meet Miss McMillan for our JRSO Seminar that was attended by various schools throughout the 3 Ayrshire Authorities.<\/p>\n We all had a great morning learning lots of new things all related to road safety. When we arrived, we were put into the yellow group with other schools. There were 6 different stations that we would spend time at.<\/p>\n The first session was spent talking about how to be safe around large vehicles such as lorries and buses. We watched a slide show and had a good discussion with our group about the dangers these large vehicles pose to us.<\/p>\n We then went onto the stage for some drama\/role play. At first it was a bit embarrassing doing it, but then we got stuck in and it was our favourite part!! We were playing traffic light games and buzz games. It was really fun, and it helped us become friends with the other school pupils.<\/p>\n After being on the stage, it was time to go outside with Fiona who is one of the staff members from Ayrshire Roads Alliance. We had to wear a Hi-Viz vest and we were given a clipboard with road signs and pictures. We went out and discussed all the signs we could see as well as looking at various places that would be safe to cross. We looked at junctions as well as the lines painted on the road and the importance of them.<\/p>\n Snack time\u2026..phew, we were all thirsty and hungry at this point, so we were provided with a snack and Miss McMillan also brought something for us too!<\/p>\n Next up was us receiving this year\u2019s challenge. Last year, the JRSO Team were challenged with the 5 Star Award. This year is a Challenge Campaign. The 3 Ayrshire Authorities have come together to highlight the dangers of 3 topics, so look out for our information throughout the year. Our first one will be about the dangers of E-Scooters.<\/p>\n After receiving our challenge, we then went to the Digital station. This is where we accessed the JRSO website on Glow. It is available for all pupils, so feel free to have a nosey at the useful website. It is full of very useful hints and tips about road safety. There\u2019s a member\u2019s section that only we can access. This is where we can reach out to the other JRSO Teams and share ideas and good practice.<\/p>\n Our last station before heading back to school was the arts and crafts area. This is where we were to create a poster highlighting the importance of seat belts.<\/p>\n As you can see, we were involved in an action-packed morning that is vital for our journey.
