What we’re doing to manage waste sustainability by reducing, reusing, recycling and recovering waste to improve resource efficiency whilst working towards a circular economy including reviewing and reducing residual waste.

Junior Jannies<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This session our Junior Jannies have independently completed this weekly recycling task, ensuring their visit each room in the school as our offices and staff room space have recycling bins as well as our classrooms.<\/p>\n

EAC recycling bins<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

We have sent email correspondence to note our request for the East Ayrshire recycling bins when they are replaced. We have not yet received these, but Julie Haig has noted our request to take on 9 of them, one for each of our classrooms.<\/p>\n

Pre-ordering lunches<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

We promoted the use of ParentPay to pre-order lunches at our Parents Evenings this session. This was further promoted on our coms prior to school trips to prevent food waste if a child was taking their own packed lunch.<\/p>\n

Food waste in the dinner hall<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Children are confident at recycling their food waste appropriately in the dinner hall. They are more knowledgeable about what can and can\u2019t be recycled.<\/p>\n

Food waste at home<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

We have gathered information through a Form about how many of our families recycle our food waste. We have a list of caddies to share at Get Together and a list of families to direct to the council to request a food caddy.<\/p>\n

What happens next with our food waste?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Our Clean Green Waste Team have shared information at Get Together about what is done with recycled food waste. This has had a positive impact on ensuring the correct items are being recycled too.<\/p>\n
