{"id":4617,"date":"2020-04-02T16:02:42","date_gmt":"2020-04-02T16:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/mountcarmelps2017\/?p=4617"},"modified":"2020-04-02T16:23:09","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T16:23:09","slug":"at-home-relaxation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/mountcarmelps2017\/2020\/04\/02\/at-home-relaxation\/","title":{"rendered":"At home relaxation!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During these troubling times, we are aware our children may be feeling scared, worried or anxious without the familiarity and routine of an ordinary school day.<\/p>\n<p>I have attached some links and activity ideas which may help to relieve some worry or anxiety and will hopefully help our children to feel a little bit better during these uncertain times.<\/p>\n<p>These activities are only a suggestion, there is no requirement to complete these, they are here to help should you feel your child may need them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Activity Ideas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paths Mood Chart &amp; Check in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4619\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/mountcarmelps2017\/files\/2020\/04\/mood-metre.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By drawing the emotions from our Paths mood chart, using the emotions faces children are used to, children create their own mood metre and indicate daily, by pointing or putting a sticker on the emotion they are feeling. Parents and siblings can do the same and encourage children to talk about their feelings. Having a \u2018family check in\u2019 where you share your worries and feelings, can have a positive effect and help to relieve some of their worries or concerns.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daily Diary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4620\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/mountcarmelps2017\/files\/2020\/04\/daily-diary.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By keeping a daily diary and writing down the emotions you are feeling, this can be a positive way to release some of the worry you may be feeling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relaxation\/Breathing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Balloon (Peace Out: Guided Meditation for Kids) | Cosmic Kids\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZBnPlqQFPKs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This video encourages controlled breathing and visualisation, which may help to relieve any stress or muscle tension children are experiencing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Massage<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our school have had inputs on massage, which can be a relaxing way to wind down, or prepare for a good night\u2019s sleep.
