Easter is gone, the clocks have gone forward, and the lighter nights are here! And so is term 4!\u00a0 The last term for our P6\u2019s before becoming top of the school.\u00a0 Here is a brief overview of our learning this term.<\/p>\n
Literacy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n We are continuing to develop all reading skills through a variety of guided reading texts. We will be focussing on concisely answering the 3 main question types with a particular focus on the steps to answer inferential questions. \u00a0For writing this term, we are looking at the genre of response: writing reviews and giving personal opinions to things we have watched or read.\u00a0 Our grammar will be looking at investigating affixes and how they change the meaning of root words.<\/p>\n Numeracy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Our numeracy focus this term will continue on percentages before moving onto time.\u00a0 We will also look at equations later in the term.\u00a0 We will continue to use Number Talk strategies to develop mental strategies using all four processes.<\/p>\n Health and Wellbeing <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Our focus is on relationships and sexual health.\u00a0 In late June we will discuss God\u2019s Loving Plan and complete appropriate activities.\u00a0 As this subject is sensitive, please discuss these issues with your child at home.<\/p>\n The PATHS focus this term is on making and keeping friendships and learning how to deal with teasing behaviours.\u00a0 We will also continue to praise and compliment children through Pupil of the Day.<\/p>\n Our PE days are still Monday and Thursday and pupils must bring in their PE kit on these days to participate fully.\u00a0 We will be first concentrating on netball then moving onto athletics.<\/p>\n IDL <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The topic this term is based around enterprise for the school show.\u00a0 Preparations are already underway and pupils will be participating in lots of drama, art, technology and enterprising activities to make the show a success.\u00a0 Keep your eyes peeled for further updates of our show.<\/p>\n We will also have a science focus this term, concentrating on the water cycle.<\/p>\n RE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n For RE this term, we are continuing to progress through the Pope Francis Faith Award journals.\u00a0 We will be completing the Gift of Piety and Wisdom.\u00a0 Pupils will be aiming to give evidence of them being used in the school, at home and in the community or Parish.\u00a0 P6 will also look at the story of Pentecost.<\/p>\n French<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The focus for this terms French is to focus on the cultural differences between Scotland and France, investigating foods, celebrations and a typical school day.<\/p>\n Technologies<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n This term P6 will further develop use of online applications such as Glow and Teams and use features within PowerPoint and Word.<\/p>\n UNCRC<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n We will be learning about the articles and rights involved in and associated with Mental Health Awareness Week (Article 24) in May and then look at the rights linked to World Refugee Day (Articles 10 and 22) in June.<\/p>\n Mr Bertoncini<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Easter is gone, the clocks have gone forward, and the lighter nights are here!
