Phonics at home ideas<\/a><\/p>\n Our new common\/tricky words are:<\/p>\n Group 1 – so, go, no<\/p>\n Group 2 – gave, these, much<\/p>\n Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n Pupils will receive a new reading book tomorrow – please try to read with your child at home.<\/p>\n Maths & Numeracy<\/strong><\/p>\n In numeracy, we have began learning about fractions.<\/p>\n Group 1 will be learning about halves & Group 2 will be learning about halves & quarters. This week we have been talking about finding half\/quarter of a shape, remembering that for a half, there should be two parts & for a quarter there should be four parts. We have also discussed that all the parts should be equal – the same size.<\/p>\n How you can help home<\/strong> – discuss & split food into halves\/quarters during snacks\/meals – are they the same size? Folding or cutting paper. Draw simple shapes, can the split them in half\/quarter.<\/p>\n In maths with Mrs McInroy on Wednesdays, your child will be begin learning how to tell the time on an analogue cloak. Group 1 will look at o’clock & half past. Group 2 will look at quarter past & quarter to.<\/p>\n How you can help at home – Discuss the time during real life activities e.g. bedtime, time for school, make a paper clock, hunt for clocks around the house.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We will be talking about Earth Hour in class this week.
