Week Beginning 26th October<\/h3>\n

Phonics<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week we are leaning to say, recognise, write & blend the phonemes r & m. We will also revise the phonemes covered so far; s, a, t, p, i, n.<\/p>\n

These are the word lists that we will be working with this week:<\/p>\n

Children will be trying to read these words in class. To do that we say each individual phoneme then we try to blend the phonemes together or ‘hold onto’ the phoneme until we get to the next one.<\/p>\n

There are many ways you can practise this at home. Some ideas are below:<\/p>\n

-Have a phoneme hunt (to find items that start with this week’s phoneme) around the house\/garden\/community<\/span><\/p>\n

-Write the phoneme in many ways e.g chalk, stick in the mud, bubbles in the bath, pen\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

-Write some of the words from the word list & hide them around the house. Have your child find them then tell you what words they have found.<\/span><\/p>\n

-Have a phoneme or word hunt in a book they are currently reading with you. Can they find any words from their word list?<\/span><\/p>\n

Reading<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Your child should receive a reading book home at some point this week! If you can read with your child at home, that would be great!<\/p>\n

Another great way to support your child at home is to have them practise writing their name using the correct letter formation & pencil grip – we have been working on this in school but some children are still finding this tricky! Therefore, your support at home would be really helpful.<\/p>\n

Numeracy\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have been working on addition! This week we will be moving onto Number Stories e.g. all the addition calculations that equal 5. We will look at the number stories for all the numbers up to 10.<\/p>\n

We have also been looking at recognising numbers beyond 10.<\/p>\n
