Thursday 16th December

We have had a busy few weeks at school and the children are very excited for Christmas!

Christmas Video

We worked hard to learn all of the words and sign language actions to the song Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer.  The children did a super job 🙂 The link for the video is on the school app and will be removed after the Christmas Holidays.

Party

We had our class Christmas Party yesterday and we had so much fun!

We planned what games we wanted to play and made our own party plan. We played pass the parcel, Christmas corners, musical statues and had a best dancer competition. Our snack organised by the parent council, thank you 🙂

Santa Letters

The children were keen to write letters to Santa. We made sure that we included our capital letters, full stops and finger spaces in every sentence. We were very proud of our letters and posted them in Santa’s post box. They will be on their way to the North Pole.

Wednesday 3rd November

This week is Dyslexia Awareness week and today was No Pens Day. The children took part in activities all day without using a pen or a pencil.

During reading, we focussed on role play and acted out our reading book.

The children reading the Mr Marvel and the Lemonade story created their own magic spell to make their own drink.

In Numeracy, we have been learning all about time (to the hour, half past the hour) on a digital and analogue clock. We had bingo games, matching games and a sequence your day activity.

We participated in games and songs in French to learn Ça va? Ça va Bien 🙂 , Comme ci Comme Ça and Ça va Mal 🙁

Snacks

Just a reminder that the children should only bring NUT FREE snacks for playtime.

Our milk carton ghosts looked really cool. Look at them glow

Friday 1st October

This week is Maths Week Scotland and the theme for this week is finding the maths in the natural world around us.

On Thursday we went on a walk around Mauchline to find numbers in the natural world around us.

We found numbers on…

  • Houses (odd and even)
  • speed signs
  • road signs – road names and miles
  • drains
  • monuments
  • cars/vans
  • shops – opening times and prices
  • posters

We found numbers on car registration plates and created our own addition and subtraction calculations with the numbers on the plates.

The children have enjoyed our new play areas in the mornings. The children have noticed that some of our areas involve maths.

The Polydron, Pet Shop, Symmetry and The Beach.

If you would like to try some more Maths Week Scotland activities click on the link.
