STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM

SCHOOL CAPTAINS

Our S6 School Captains are responsible for representing the Student Leadership Team and linking the wider student body with the team staff.  The School Captains and Vice Captains undertake formal duties in representing Loudoun Academy at official events, as well as leading projects and activities to benefit the school and students.

HOUSE CAPTAINS

Our S6 House Captains  have responsibility for developing identity, ethos and support within each of our four House Groups – Arran, Harris, Hoy and Skye.  The House Captains and Vice Captains work closely with Principal Teachers of Pupil Support to organise a range of activities and supports for students, developing further leadership opportunities.

CHAMPIONS

Our S6 Champions are responsible for taking forwards activity within the school on specific areas of importance, working alongside key staff and with representative groups of students across the school community. Current areas of remit include:

    • Mental Health & Wellbeing
    • Equality & Inclusion
    • Participatory Budgeting
    • Cost of the School Day

LEADERS OF LEARNING

Our S4-5 Leaders of Learning are ambassadors for particular subjects and curriculum areas. They take forwards projects and activities within departments to support other young people and to promote the subject in general.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL

Our S1-4 Student Representative Council meets once per half-term to discuss matters which are important to young people and to contribute to decisions which are being taken about the school. The Student Representative Council ensures all pupils’ views are listened to, taken account and acted on. There are two representatives from each class which make up the Student Representative Council for each year group, supported by House Captains and School Captains.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP GROUPS

There are a wide range of groups where young people can take an active role in influencing the work of the school and making positive change. Recent examples include the Dinner Hall Refurbishment Consultative Group, the Participatory Budgeting Group and the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG).
