PARENT & CARER QUESTIONNAIRE
Just a quick reminder, we are keen to find out about parents and carers’ experiences of how we inform and involve them in the work of the school and in supporting their child. I would be very grateful if you could complete the short online survey using the link below:

S4-6 SUPPORTED STUDY
We strongly encourage our young people in S4-6 to attend Supported Study sessions for courses they are taking at this critical stage. Weekly timetables can be found on the School Website using the following link:

ASSEMBLY HALL REPAIRS
Following the storm damage in late January, I am pleased to report that repair work to the Assembly Hall roof is currently on track, with scaffolding coming down soon. Further work may be required internally, but the project is expected to be complete ahead of SQA exams beginning after the Spring Break.
FIRE ALARM ACTIVATIONS
As you will no doubt be aware, we have had a spate of fire alarm activations causing evacuations from the building. These are exclusively linked to vaping in toilets or the use of spray deodorant.
These episodes cause significant disruption to learning and teaching, and also a level of stress and frustration on staff and students which is not acceptable. This is especially the case during a period of course assessment preparation for students in the Senior Phase.
I would share with you that in these instances, serious action has been taken and further preventative steps are in place.
I would be grateful if all parents and carers could discuss the need for students not to gather in groups in toilets, and that vaping is not only dangerous, it is illegal for young people under 18 and will not be tolerated on school premises. Spray deodorant should not be used in the school environment due to the sensitivity of fire sensors.
I fully appreciate the level of concern these matters bring, and I hope the above helps to keep parents and carers informed of the issue and steps being taken.
