PARENT & CARER WEEKLY UPDATE (24/25-24)

SENIOR PHASE FULL REPORTS

We issued Full Reports for our S4 students today, which give information on current levels of progress and teacher comments on strengths and next steps. Any student who does not have this should see their Principal Teacher of Pupil Support or Principal Teacher of Communication Centre. We hope to be able to issue S5/6 Reports on Friday 28 February 2025.

SQA EXAMINATION DIET

SQA recently published a change to the planned Examination Diet for 2025. This means that our Senior Phase students in S4-6 will now start study leave on Thursday 24 April 2025. The updated Examination Timetable can be found using the following link: https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/files_ccc/nq-2025-exam-timetable.pdf

S4/5 OPTION CHOICE

A quick reminder that all S4 and S5 students must complete and return their Option Choice for S5/6 to their Principal Teacher of Pupil Support or Principal Teacher of Communication Centre, no later than Thursday 27 February 2025.

SCHOOL CALENDAR

An updated copy of the School Calendar for parents and carers can be found in the attachment. The main changes include our Young Musician of the Year Event, change to the Exam Diet, S6 prom and a reschedule to our Awards Ceremonies.

SCHOOL CODE – BE READY

As you know, since the beginning of the term we have been highlighting areas within our School Code for ‘Be Ready’. These expectations are to:

  • Be on time to class
  • Have everything you need (uniform/materials/kit)
  • Have your homework completed
  • Put your mobile and other devices off and away
  • Stay in the class during the lesson

We really appreciate parents and carers in understanding the importance of how these help to create an orderly, purposeful learning environment where all young people can learn and achieve well and supporting their child to follow these expectations.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

I would wish to thank young people, parents and carers for your ongoing support of our School Uniform this academic session, which generally has been strong. However, we have noticed a recent deterioration and will refocus on this from next week onwards. A reminder on acceptable dress for school can be found on our School Website:

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/ea/loudounacademy2022/school-uniform/

Tracksuits, jogging bottoms, patterned or coloured leggings, shorts, crop tops, sports clothing, designer clothing, jeans or denim and fashion jackets or having no identifiable item of Loudoun Academy School Uniform are not acceptable. We will make daily contact with parents and carers where there are issues. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

Best wishes

David Falconer
Head Teacher
