Here is a few tips to get you started.

  • What is a fraction?
  • How do we show a fraction? In shapes? Numbers? Number line?
  • What are the special names of numbers in a fraction?
  • Can you show 1/2, 1/4, 1/10

  • What do you divide by to find 1/2, 1/4 or 1/10

Can’t wait to see all of your drawings.

CIRCLES

Well Done circles!! I am so impressed with all your hard work when completing addition and subtraction calculations. Today we are going to begin multiplying and dividing.

Do you know what the multiply sign looks like?

It is like a + sign, but it has fallen on its side. It also looks like the letter x. Can you have a go at writing the multiplication sign a few times? Here it is below.

I would like you to have a look through this powerpoint.

Introducing Multiplication PowerPoint

When we begin to talk about multiplying we talk about repeated addition.  For example below we have 5 pairs of shoes.

Writing this as repeated addition looks like

2+2+2+2+2=10

Now complete today’s task.
