Home Learning 5.2.21

Happy Friday everyone! Don’t forget our virtual classroom at 11am today. I will be having a little check in and chat and doing some number talks. Remember to send an email with any questions you may have and keep sending in your great work!

Could I please ask if you can have a look at yesterday’s Daily feelings quiz and fill it in if you haven’t already – along with today’s as well please. It is so lovely for the children to receive lovely comments to keep them motivated. It only takes a couple of minutes. Thank you!!

HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Please complete our Daily Feelings Questionnaire as soon as you can every day; it only takes a couple of minutes. This allows us to put all your lovely comments together and send them to our Pupil of the Day. If you are our chosen pupil, make sure to say something nice about yourself and ask someone to send us a photo of you for your certificate.

Updated link as it wasn’t working before sorry!

NUMERACY

Have fun with sumdog this week, you can log on and play the games at your leisure.

FRACTIONS

I hope you managed to find tenths of numbers yesterday and gave yourself a good challenge with my challenge questions.

Today we are going to look at fifths.

First of all lets share our counters into 5 equal groups using our counters.

Share 20 counters into 5 equal groups. Here is my example below.

Share 30 counters into 5 equal groups.

Share 10 counters into 5 equal groups.

Share 15 counters into 5 equal groups.

Share 5 counters into 5 equal groups.

Share 25 counters into 5 equal groups.

Fifths task

CIRCLES

I hope you feel a bit more confident when adding two 2 digit numbers.

You now have so many strategies to add and subtract

*Counting on and back

*Bridging

*Using a number line and a blank number line

*Relating to doubles and number facts

*Partitioning

Previously I have given you word problems to solve. Today your task is to create your very own addition word problems for me to solve. Keep your calculations within 100 and just go for it. Wonder if you can catch me out! Remember you need to work out the answer aswell so you know if I am correct or not. See if you can come up with 4 questions.

Remember the language task we did- refer to that if you need help with language.

Here is an example – Mel got 48 birthday cards and Tracey got 21 birthday cards. How many cards did they get altogether? 48+21 = 69

WRITING

Today we are going to write some sentences about what you can see. Click the link below for your task.

WRITING

I hope you thought of lots of great ideas to describe this imagine using your senses. Did you imagine yourself being there? I think I’d prefer to be there than in rainy Ayrshire at the moment!

Your task today is to write down as many adjectives (describing words) as you can to describe this picture. Think about your senses to help with this. This will help with our task tomorrow when we write a few sentences about what you see. I have started a grid for you to add to.
