Literacy

Activity 1: We are learning to say, read and write the sounds ‘d’ and ‘e’.

Think of and draw 2 things that have ‘d’ at the beginning, and 2 things that have ‘e’ at the beginning.

Extra challenge: Practise your letter formation. Use your jotter to practise writing ‘p’ and ‘n’.

Activity 2: We are learning to say, read and write the words ‘did’, ‘as’, ‘he’.

Choose an activity to complete to practise making this week’s common words:

Write the words using coloured pencils, a different colour for each word.

Activity 2: We are learning to count in 2s and 5s.

We have been practising counting by 2s to count up in 2p and counting by 5s to count up in 5p.

Activity 1: As part of our topic, “My Community”, we have been learning about the local church and comparing this to a mosque.

Discuss the following features and whether they would be found in a church or a mosque:

  • Making friends

Activity 1: Last week was ‘Book Week Scotland’.

Your child received a Book Bug Bag last week. Use some time this week to explore your Book Bug Bag. Look at and complete some of the activities in the pack. You could use the book about birds; can you go on a hunt around your community to look for different types of birds?

Cut out the letters from your homework sheet. Use the letters to practise making the following words:

*Remember- you must say the words so that you can hear the beginning, middle and end sound. Show your adults at home how to blend the words.

Act it out! Use your toys or someone at home to pretend you are one of the 3 emergency services we have learned about:

Get someone else to guess what emergency service you are acting out.

Use your bricks or any other toy to practise counting amounts to 10. Then practise forming all numbers from 0-9 in your jotter.

Activity 2: We are learning to recognise all coins and notes to £20.

Use the coins you have in the house to practise recognising the coins: 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

Activity 3: Set up a play shop in your house with some of your toys. Put prices on items and have turns at being the shop keeper. Use the coins you have to practise paying for items and giving pretend change.

Topic activity

Activity 1: We have been learning about jobs in the community.

Find out what jobs people in your family do. Draw a picture of a job you would like to do when you are an adult. Can you say why you would like to do this? What would make you good at this job? What could you get better at?

Last week we learned the sounds ‘s’ and ‘i’. We also learned the common words ‘I’, ‘in’ and ‘it’.

Activity 1: We are learning to say, read and write the sounds ‘s’ and ‘i’.

 

Cut out the ‘s’ and ‘i’ objects and sort these into a ‘s’ pile and an ‘i’ pile. You could also add in other objects from your house.

The sheet with the objects will be in your child’s bag on Tuesday
